Director of Nursing
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for appointment to the above post.
Psychiatric services for Dublin North Central are provided in a partnership arrangement between St Vincent’s Hospital, Fairview, the HSE, Dublin North Central and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. The service model is community based and provides a comprehensive psychiatric service to persons in the area. This partnership extends to the various multi-disciplinary teams in a planned co-operative approach to meet the service requirements of the catchment area. In a new departure, St Vincent’s Hospital, Fairview will shortly open a 100-bed Care of the Elderly Unit in the grounds of the hospital. It will, therefore, be offering care of the elderly services and psychiatric services on the same site.
The Director of Nursing will have responsibility for all nursing services in St Vincent’s Hospital, Fairview, in the Community and in the Mater Hospital Psychiatric Unit and will liaise with the Director of Nursing, Mater Hospital in this latter regard.
Each candidate must be registered in the Psychiatric Nurses Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by An Bord Altranais (Irish Nurses’ Board) or be entitled to be so registered. In addition each candidate must have:
(a) in the last six years, at least three years experience of nursing older persons, and
(b) an in-depth knowledge of the ageing process and
(c) engaged in continuous professional development and
(d) a minimum of five years management experience and
(e) the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the
functions of the role.
Salary Scale: €71,978 to €82,532

Adolescent In-patient Unit
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for appointment to the above post.
This post is situated within the In-patient Adolescent Unit, St Vincent’s Hospital, Fairview. This service works in close cooperation with the Adolescent Day Services and, in particular, provides input across the full range of mental health services provided by the hospital. Some input into Adult Services may also be required.
Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed applications for the office possess:
(1) Have the N.Q.S.W. qualification or equivalent.
(2) Three years relevant post qualification Social Work experience.
(3) Each candidate must possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a
high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of office.
(4) Familiarity with Children First and principles of sound Child Protection
procedures and referral protocol.
Desirable:
- Experience in Medical Social Work and group work.
- Therapeutic experience with Children and Adolescent
Qualifications obtained outside the Republic of Ireland will require validation by the National Social Work Qualifications Board (NSWQB)
Salary Scale: €55,789 - €65,506
